Consultation and scan
Dr. Nahlah examines your mouth, checks how your present denture fits and takes a cone-beam scan of the jaw. You leave with the options that suit you, the price of each and the time each one takes.

A denture that clips into place.
Snap-in dentures on two or more implants, planned by a board-certified prosthodontist in Tysons.

An implant denture, often called a snap-in denture, is a removable denture that clips onto two or more implants in the jaw instead of sitting loose on the gums. It holds still while you eat and talk, lifts out for cleaning, and the implants give the bone a load again. At the Tysons Corner office it is usually weighed up by people with:
A relined or new denture is the smallest outlay. It still rests on the gums, so it keeps moving and the ridge under it keeps shrinking, and relines become part of the routine.
A snap-in denture costs more than a denture alone and less than fixed teeth. It clips onto at least two implants, so it stops sliding, yet you still take it out to clean it, and it may want a reline now and then.
A fixed arch is fastened to four to eight implants and never comes out; it is the largest investment of the three. Which one fits you comes from your scan, your bone and how you feel about teeth you remove.
All-on-4 in McLeanNothing is placed until the scan has been read and the plan agreed with you. If a tooth must come out or bone must be rebuilt, that comes first, and a graft adds several months of healing.

The implants go in through a guide printed from your scan, under local anesthetic with nitrous oxide or oral sedation. In most cases you go home wearing temporary teeth.
Once the implants have fused with the bone, about four months later, the denture is fitted to them and its bite checked and adjusted.

The Tysons Corner office holds six surgical suites and a dental laboratory, so the scan, the implant surgery and the design of your denture happen in one place, under one specialist's responsibility.
When a denture needs its fit or bite changed, the people who made it are down the hall: an adjustment takes days, not the weeks an outside lab would add.
If you would rather have teeth that never come out, this is what a fixed result looks like. The double-arch case below was treated at the practice.

BeforeAfter
The implants take about four months to fuse with the bone. Most patients leave surgery with temporary teeth and wear them in the meantime; the practice sees you along the way.
Then the denture is clipped onto the implants. It comes out every day to be cleaned, and a cleaning here every six months keeps the five-year warranty on the implant work in force.
