Why two quotes for the same mouth differ by thousands.

Nobody can price an implant case from a phone call, and any practice that does is pricing something other than your mouth. Here is what actually moves the number, and the three ways patients pay for it.

The Variables

Five things decide the number.

All five come out of the consultation and the 3D scan. None of them can be guessed at over the phone.

01

How many teeth are missing

One tooth, a span, or an entire arch. The jump from several implants to a full arch on four is not linear. Four posts carrying an arch is usually more cost-effective than replacing each tooth individually.

02

How long they have been missing

Bone recedes where teeth are not loading it. Time gone is the single biggest predictor of whether anything has to be rebuilt before an implant can be placed.

03

What has to happen first

Extractions, bone grafting, sinus work. These are separate procedures with their own healing time, and they are the usual reason one quote is months and thousands apart from another.

04

Materials

A zirconia fixed prosthesis is not the same object as an acrylic one, and does not cost the same. What is being quoted matters as much as how many implants.

05

Where the work is done

Surgery, restoration and the laboratory under one roof removes the margin each outside party adds, and the second set of appointments that comes with them.

Cost Over Time

The cheapest option on day one is rarely the cheapest option.

Traditional dentures are the lowest number at the start. They are also not a long-term solution: they rest on gum tissue, they move, they need relining and replacing, and the bone underneath keeps receding because nothing is loading it.

Implant-supported dentures sit in the middle. The denture clips onto implants, which stops the movement and puts load back into the bone, while keeping the prosthesis removable.

Full-arch implants are the highest number up front and the lowest maintenance afterwards: a fixed bridge on four or more implants, with no relining, no adhesive and no nightly removal. Over a lifetime, that difference compounds.

An implant case is best read as an investment with a maintenance curve, not a purchase. Ask any practice quoting you what the ten-year cost looks like, not just the day-one one.

Insurance

Claims are filed for you.

Most dental PPO plans are accepted. Coverage for implants is often limited, but limited is not nothing. The practice files the claims on your behalf and works the plan for every benefit it actually entitles you to.

Questions

About paying for it.

Why is there no price list on this page?
Because an honest one cannot exist. Two people missing the same tooth can need entirely different treatment depending on how long it has been gone and what the bone is doing. You get a real number after the scan, in writing, at the consultation.
Does insurance cover dental implants?
Some plans offer limited coverage. The practice files claims on your behalf and works to get every benefit your plan entitles you to. Whether that is a large or small share depends entirely on the plan.
Can I finance the whole case?
In most cases yes, through CareCredit, Proceed Finance or LendingClub. Proceed Finance in particular is designed for patients whose credit score would rule out conventional lending, with terms up to 96 months.
Is a second opinion really free?
Yes, on implant surgery. If you have been quoted elsewhere, bring the plan and any imaging.

Get a number that means something.

The consultation includes the 3D scan, the plan, and the cost of that plan, before you commit to anything.
