What Can Change

What cosmetic dentistry can change.

At the Tysons Corner office, the smile evaluation works out which of these you have and the order to fix them in.

  • Teeth that have yellowed or stained
  • Chips and small cracks
  • Gaps between the front teeth
  • Teeth that look too short, too long or uneven
  • A gumline that sits unevenly
  • A smile that looks lopsided

That order is planned before anything starts: the gumline first, then whitening, then porcelain shaded to the color your own teeth settle at. Porcelain does not lighten later, which is why it is always made last.

How a smile makeover is planned

At This Office

Five treatments, chosen case by case.

All five are done at the Tysons Corner office, and the veneers, crowns and bridges are designed in the practice's own lab in the same building.

Porcelain veneers

For chips, gaps, crowding and stains that whitening cannot shift, made by hand in the lab in the building.

Bridges

Linked crowns that close the gap left by a missing tooth, resting on natural teeth or on implants.

Whitening

About an hour in the chair, or trays at home, with the shade agreed before you start.

Inlays and onlays

A smaller repair for a tooth that needs part of its surface rebuilt rather than a whole crown.

When to say no

If teeth wear or chip because of the way they meet, that is a bite problem. You are told so at the evaluation instead of being offered porcelain.

Evaluation and preview

Time with Dr. Nahlah himself at the Tysons Corner office: whether you are a candidate, the options at each price, and a free Digital Smile Design of the result. Nothing is prepared until you approve it.

Prepare and scan

For veneers, less than a millimeter of enamel is taken from the front of each tooth, and the teeth are scanned rather than molded.

Made in the building

The porcelain is designed in the practice's own lab, so shade and fit can be adjusted in minutes rather than sent away and back.

Fit and bond

The fit is checked, then the veneers are bonded: as few as two appointments once the design is settled. Afterwards you brush and floss as before.
